The Olympic Council of Asia has chosen Herb Perez, the CEO of Gold Medal Martial Arts to lead their efforts to develop programs for three Asian Countries for the upcoming Olympic Games.

“Grandmaster Perez was our first and only choice," explained OCA Director General Mussalem. "He has the experience, knowledge, and passion to help these children achieve their Olympic dreams. His work in Afghanistan and the United States has yielded tremendous results.”

Perez serves as the International Projects Director and is a winner of the coveted USOC Steinbrenner Award for his work in Afghanistan to rebuild their sport programming.

“The OCA President, His Excellency Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah, has continued his initative to build sport training programs that can reach the masses," said Perez, a 1992 Olympic gold medalist. "We are excited to support the program because of Taekwondo’s ability to reach the masses through a sport for all components.  Our young athletes here in the USA are an excellent example of the value of a well-developed program that fosters community and sportsmanship. It is my pleasure to lend support to this laudable effort."

“We are excited to work in tandem with the Olympic Council of Asia and Grandmaster Perez to help improve less developed taekwondo programs in the selected Asian nations," said USA Taekwondo CEO David Askinas. "We are proud of our excellent coaching education program and the opportunity to be a good international partner in our sport.“

The USAT and Grandmaster Perez, in cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Olympic Committee Solidarity Program, will be selecting three coaches who will implement a training program and live in the host country for a two month period.

“It is an excellent opportunity to build a national program and gain international coaching experience,” added Perez. “We are excited to offer this opportunity to all USAT registered coaches.”
